Hello,
I was an exchange student in Japan about 20 years ago and I overheard a Canadian and a Russian exchange students commenting about the Udon shop.
According to the Russian student, udon'ya (Udon shop in Japanese) sounds like mudonia or so, which is allegedly a humorous word for an Udon restaurant.
Can anyone explain me if there is such a word in Russian like mudonia or mudonya, or something sounding alike? What does it mean?
Thank you,
