What works well for me is to select individual words out of the dictionary and to study their meaning. I list the words in alphabetical order, and I sort them into parts of speech: noun, adjective, and verb. I order the words according to gender (nouns), and according to function (verbs). I memorize the words over the course of weeks, and I use each word in a sentence, so that I learn it in context relative to other words.
Also, I find that memorizing proverbs is an effective technique for helping me to remember the meaning of Russian words. Another thing - correct pronunciation is very important, and when I listen to videos of Russian speakers, I try to repeat what they say with exact accent. I do the same for all languages which I study, shaping my mouth and tongue in the right way to replicate the vowels and consonants correctly.
The better techniques for me, this look for English phrase and expression! Also I write down new words and expression in my note-book and learn everyday them!
Also I try reading English literature and translate for vocabulary words, which I don`t know. Or I listen forign music and understand, translate under way!!
In learning a new language, we should have a practices regularly related to the language gonna be learned. For instances, we learn how to know about the new vocabularies, try to learn the patterns, and learn how to speak the word precisely.
A day at least we have to memorize at lest for 10 new vocabularies .
Language diving, talking, hearing real native speakers, but good grammar textbook is necessary any way.
